About The Penney
I am happily married to my soul mate of over 37 years. Together we are "Happy Campers". We have an adult son (with 2 grand dogs) and an adult daughter and son-in-love with 2 teen granddaughters.
I grew up in a Christian home and was quite sheltered from the world. Some of the life’s hard-knocks were a shock to me and I was unprepared to handle them. As a young child, I spent much of my elementary school years in tears because I was overwhelmed by hardships in the lives of those around me. I carried their sadness and did not understand why bad things were happening to good people. Somehow I wished I could fix it all. As an adult, my naivety often blinded me to difficult friendships and situations that I was unequipped to navigate through. Memories of those hard times are burned in my heart. I’m determined to share what I've learned through those experiences and hope that others will learn from them.
Penelope Jane was a nick name given to me by one of my Sunday School teachers and mentor when I was a little girl. It seemed like a fitting title for my blog since I will be sharing stories from my childhood or childlike lessons that I still keep learning. I have had over 30 years experience working
with children and over 50 years experience being a kid!
This is a picture of me as the "real" Penelope Jane. I was so painfully shy and bottled up lots of fears. God often calmed me through my dreams. I didn't have a toy turtle, but was always hugging a stuffed bear.
Through those years, I came to realize what Jesus meant when he said to become as a child. That kind of faith and understanding is in all of us regardless of age. I hope by sharing my stories, ideas, thoughts and dreams to spark childlike faith in you.
I try to live by my name and always be a "Happy Camper". One of my favorite verses is Psalm 31:25 "She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future because her hope is in me."
